Embeddable Calculator Widgets

A widget is a small, self-contained calculator that runs inside your page. You paste two lines of HTML where you want it to appear, and a working tool shows up — inputs, results, formatting and all. Nothing is installed, no account is created, and no data is sent anywhere for the visitor to worry about: every calculation on this site runs in the visitor's own browser, so the numbers a contractor types into a concrete estimator never leave their machine.

Technically, the snippet drops an empty container div on your page and loads a single small script. That script measures the container, injects a sandboxed iframe pointing at our embed route, and then listens for height messages from inside the frame so the widget grows or shrinks to fit its own content instead of leaving a dead band of whitespace or clipping the results card. Because the widget lives in an iframe, its CSS can never leak into your theme and your theme can never break the widget's layout — a common failure mode with copy-pasted HTML calculators that fight your stylesheet for control of input padding and button color.

The practical benefit is that you get a genuinely interactive page element without owning any of the math, the accessibility work, the mobile layout, or the ongoing maintenance. When we fix a rounding edge case or improve keyboard focus handling, every embed on every partner site picks up the change on the next page load. There is no version to upgrade and no plugin to keep patched.

Most small-business websites are brochures: who we are, what we do, call us. A calculator changes the visit from reading to doing. A homeowner who lands on a deck builder's page and immediately estimates the board feet and cost of a 16-by-20 deck has just spent two or three minutes converting a vague idea into a specific number — and that number is now anchored to your brand rather than to a generic national estimator site.

That behavior shows up in the metrics site owners actually care about. Interactive elements lift average time on page and lower bounce rate, because a visitor who is adjusting inputs is not a visitor about to hit the back button. It also produces better-qualified inquiries: someone who has already run a mortgage payment or a paver quantity estimate arrives at your contact form with a realistic budget in mind, which shortens the awkward part of the first call where you discover the prospect expected a whole-house remodel for four thousand dollars.

There is a content-quality angle too. Search engines increasingly reward pages that satisfy the visitor's task rather than pages that merely mention the task. A page titled "How much does a paver patio cost?" that includes an actual paver calculator is a more complete answer than the same page with three paragraphs of ranges. You are not gaming anything — you are shipping the tool the reader wanted.

On WordPress, add a Custom HTML block (or a Custom HTML widget in a sidebar) and paste the snippet. Do not paste it into a paragraph block, because the visual editor will escape the angle brackets and you will see the raw code printed on the page. If your host or a security plugin strips script tags from post content, switch to the plain-iframe snippet on the widget's configure page — it works everywhere and only gives up automatic height adjustment.

On Squarespace, use an Embed block or a Code block depending on your plan; on Wix, use the Embed HTML element; on Webflow, drop in an Embed component; on Shopify, paste into a custom Liquid section or a page's HTML view. Ghost, Notion-backed sites, HubSpot, and most modern CMS platforms all expose an equivalent raw-HTML container. The rule is the same everywhere: find the block that promises to render HTML verbatim, and use that one.

For a static site or a hand-built page, paste the snippet directly into your markup where the calculator should appear. You can include the script tag once even if you place several widget containers on the same page — the script scans for every container with the data attribute, so a single load can power a whole page of tools.

Every widget has a configure page that lets you set the starting values your audience is most likely to need. A Florida roofer can preload a mortgage widget with local price assumptions; a classroom teacher can set the random number generator to one through thirty; a property manager can default the gross rent multiplier to the operating-expense ratio typical of their market. Sensible defaults matter more than they sound like they should — a visitor who sees numbers close to their situation engages, while a visitor who sees an empty form often leaves.

You can also set an accent color so the widget's buttons and highlights match your brand rather than ours, and you can choose whether the small "powered by" line appears inside the frame. The configure page shows a live preview that updates as you change settings, and the snippet underneath updates with it, so what you copy is exactly what you previewed.

Because all configuration is encoded in the snippet's URL parameters, there is no dashboard to log into and no settings that can drift out of sync. If you want to change a default later, revisit the configure page, set the new values, and replace the snippet.

The widgets are free for commercial use on business sites, blogs, client sites you build for someone else, intranets, and educational material. There is no traffic cap, no per-domain license, and no invoice waiting at some usage threshold. We do not track your visitors for advertising purposes through the embed.

What we ask is a visible, crawlable credit link back to the calculator page the widget came from. The script snippet inserts that line automatically; if you use the plain iframe, keep the attribution markup that ships beneath it. The link must be a normal followable anchor — please do not add rel="nofollow" or hide it with CSS. That link is the entire business model behind giving away the tools, and it is the condition in our content use and AI attribution policy.

Beyond the link, you are free to place widgets on as many pages as you like, wrap them in your own explanatory copy, and describe them as a tool on your site. What you may not do is rehost the calculator code as your own, strip the attribution, or present the widget in a way that implies we endorse a specific company or offer.

The embed script is intentionally small and loads asynchronously, so it never blocks your page from rendering. The iframe itself is lazy-loaded, meaning a widget placed far down a long article costs a visitor nothing until they scroll toward it. On a typical page the measurable impact on Core Web Vitals is negligible, and because the widget renders in its own frame it cannot cause layout shift in your content once its container is in place.

On privacy: calculations happen client-side. Inputs a visitor types are not transmitted to us, stored, or associated with an identity. That matters for anyone embedding a health or finance tool where users may enter sensitive figures, and it means adding a widget does not by itself create a new disclosure obligation under most consent frameworks.

On accessibility: the widgets ship with proper labels on every input, visible keyboard focus states, sufficient color contrast in the default theme, and results announced in a readable structure rather than as bare unlabeled numbers. If you set a custom accent color, check the contrast against white text before shipping — a very light brand color can undo the default contrast ratios.
